November 2021 Update

The past few months have marked two years since we moved here to Santa Rosa, and one year since we began building our new home. We love looking back over our years in Costa Rica and reflecting on how we have grown and where God has brought us in ministry. Specifically in the Semillas de Vida (Seeds of Life) ministry, we are excited to see so much growth in the people involved and to watch and be part of the expansion of the Church. We are so thankful for the friendships we have formed over the past two years, and for the work that God has been doing both in us and in the people we are serving.

These months have been busy for our little family of three with many friends and family from the States making their way down to be with us and meet little Jackson! We are so thankful that God has provided the means for most of our immediate family to spend some quality time with him within his first few months of life. These seven months have flown by and we love watching Jackson grow and develop, and are thankful for health and safety so far!

Brandon recently had the opportunity to lead the church through a few month series of the “I Am” statements of Christ found in the gospel of John. It was very stretching as this was the first multiple week sermon series he had preached. It was a great segue into the Sunday School hour series he is now leading that has to do with Jesus in the Old Testament. We have been looking at different prophecies, types of Christ, and events that ultimately all point to Jesus. He is the main point from Genesis to Revelation, the whole Bible is about the person and redemptive work of Christ.

We finished a Children’s Sunday School curriculum and have begun a new one titled "He Has Spoken By His Son". We have quite a large group of young children and babies in the church, which is so beautiful. Please be praying for the children in our church/ministry as we lead them on Sunday mornings, and challenge the parents to be spiritual leaders in the home.

Brandon is continuing with his study in the small community of La Aldea. God has been blessing the study by opening the eyes of those attending as they are going through the gospel of Mark. Samantha recently finished going through the Bible app for Kids with a few of the children from the town. It was a really amazing experience being able to go through many Bible stories that we all know and love for the very first time with these kids.

At the beginning of November most of the COVID restrictions were finally lifted throughout Costa Rica. While there is still a 10pm driving curfew, weekday driving restrictions are gone. Masks are still required going inside of public buildings, with hand washing stations outside of most places. There is a big push for the vaccine here, and there has been talk of the vaccine being required to enter most public places in Costa Rica starting in January, with a QR code with registered vaccine information as a pass to enter. Please be praying for government officials as they decide how to move forward with this decision, and for the country and the potential effect this could have on tourism and the economy.

Fellowship and teaching in La Aldea
As we apprach Christmas, we are excited to be planning a trip to the states for a few weeks! We are so thankful that everything went smoothly and quickly to recieve Jackson’s US citizenship paperwork and Passport from the embassy in San Jose. We are looking forward to spending time with family and connecting with supporters back home. We will be giving a short 5 minute update at Keystone Church on Sunday, January 2 during the main service, and at Calvary Monument Bible Church on Sunday December 26.

As many of you saw on Facebook, our house was broken into last week while we and our neighbors were away at church. Our back door was broken through and quite a few valuable items were taken. Thank you to everyone who has reached out and has been praying for us since! It is an uncomfortable feeling knowing someone has invaded our space, but we are thankful that no one was home and there wasn’t more damage done. We have since been taking more precautionary steps to protect our home by installing bars on our windows and doors.

Thank you again to our financial support team! We would not be where we are now if it weren't for our all of those who give and pray for us. If you would like to join our team and be a part of what God is at work doing here in Costa Rica, please visit this link and follow the prompts. https://cmcmissions.org/donate
